چکیده

By J. ALEKSANDROWICZ, J. URBANCZYK, ALEKSANDRA Osrnowsi AND J. SIERK0 O UR PREVIOUS REPORTS have shown that in the urine of patients suffering from various letikemias the ribonuclease ( RN-ase ) activity varies considerably and depends on the type and period of treatment.1 It has been stated that in the urine of patients suffering from chronic granulocytic letikemia the RN-ase activity is particuilarly high when the disease is fully developed. In acute myeloblastic leukemia, on the other hand, the RN-ase activity is normal, or slightly lower, whether the symptoms of the disease increase or decrease. In an attempt to explain this phenomenon one of us (Aleksandrowicz ) assumed that enzymopathy seems to be one of the links in the chain of pathogenetic mechanisms which condition the formation of the leukemia syndrome. In order to test the validity of this hypothesis we have carried out research on the behavior of various type of nucleases in the course of the proliferative hemocytopathies. The increased RN-ase activity in urine in chronic granulocytic leukemia has been explained2 by the fact that the degenerated leukocytes, which circulate in the blood in excess, release the enzyme. Thus, according to Spirer, we are dealing here with a secondary rather than with a primary phenomenon. Consequently, trying to find an answer to this problem, we decided to investigate whether any interdependence exists between the peripheral leukocytosis and the RN-ase activity in various conditions in which increased leukocytosis is present.

Correlation of Plasma RBP4-to-Vitamin A Ratio with Severity of Diabetic Retinopathy

Background & Objective: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common microvascular complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and the leading cause of vision loss in working-age adults. Vitamin A (retinol) has a role in the mechanism of vision process and retinol binding protein-4 (RBP4), is a carrier of vitamin A, and as an adipokine may be associated with increased risk for insulin resistance a...

Abstract Background and objectives: Infection stones are the directly due to persistent or recurrent infection with Urease producing bacteria. they may be exacerbated by urinary obstruction or stasis. Also, some drug components like ciprofloxacin can be the cause of stone formation. We aimed at studing antibiotic resistance of bacteria isolated form kidney stones and Urinary tract infection(UtI...

Evaluation of in vitro Effect of Pyocyanine Pigment on Interleukin-2 Secretion from Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells in Cancer Patients

Background and Objective: The pyocyanine pigment in Pseudomonas aeruginosa stimulates blood cells to secrete IL-2. IL-2 cytokine is an activator of cytotoxic T cells and natural killer cells. These cells destroy the target cells of patients with cancer. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of pyocyanine on the IL-2 secretion from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in patients with b...

The effect of borage tea on urine and blood biochemistry on non-dialysis chronic renal failure patients

Background: There is no curative treatment for chronic renal failure (CRF). Important strategies for the control and prevention of the advancement of CRF are increased renal function and decreased blood pressure (BP) and weight. Borage has many benefits, such as increased frequency of urination, decreased BP, and increased renal function. This clinical trial study was designed to determine the ...

The Interaction Between the Expression of Proliferative Biomarkers and Clinical Characteristics in Breast Cancer

Introduction: Proliferation of cancer cells and the potential of metastasis depend on the activity of different biomarkers such as proliferative ones. Proliferative biomarkers including ki-67, cyclin E1, cyclin D1, p27, and p21 were analyzed through immunohistochemistry (IHC) in previous studies. Methods: The current study aimed at investigating the utilizing role of RT-PCR in studying prolife...
